While CCC has a lovely community park, lighting has always been a bit of a challenge since we did not have utilities run to the lot. However, in 2018 the Board renewed efforts to have electricity run to the park and in summer 2019 we anticipate the installation of new park lighting which will allow residents to use the park for longer and to feel safer walking through the park at night.
All entry doors have key fob access which residents can use to enter the buildings in addition to using their community issued keys which allow access to the front and back entrances to the buildings and the community park.
While our community is quite safe, CCC does have surveillance cameras placed around the community which are monitored and recorded in case of any issues.
While it doesn't snow all the time in DC, we do have several steps leading in and out of our buildings so we have taken steps to ensure the building walkways are as safe as possible. Pathways with more than one step all have railings to one or both sides, and CCC has a snow removal company that works quickly to clear away any snow after a storm.
Since we live in close proximity the Safety Committee made it a priority to ensure that every unit and common space has a working smoke detector installed per DC Fire Code. Fines can be assessed for failing to have a working smoke detector in a unit in order to reinforce this community safety standard.
Our park has several grilling options, from charcoal grills to an open fire pit. In order to ensure we are safe with open fires, CCC has guidelines for using the fire pit and the charcoal grills. Be sure to keep the fire bucket nearby in case your grilling gets a little to enthusiastic!
