Adirondack chairs at the new fire pit
Built by residents in Fall 2018, the fire pit in the park has quickly become one of the favorite spots for neighbors to hang out after a long day!
While most of our green spaces are flower beds, we do have lawns in both the fenced dog run and in the community park proper. The Landscape Committee is working to promote polyculture lawns in both locations by incorporating hardy fescue grass seed as well as clover and other native grasses and flowers.
When the CCC community park was originally built in 2003 a rose garden was placed in the back corner of the park, edged with thuja hedges. In the years since, the garden has gotten a bit wild so in Spring/Summer 2019 the committee is working to get things back in shape!
In Spring 2019 the Landscape Committee worked to build and plant a community vegetable and herb garden in the space between buildings 3022 and 3024. The garden is taking off and we are looking forward to our first harvest in Summer 2019!
In Spring 2019 the Landscape Committee built a new shade garden between our fire pit and the rose garden area to provide a peaceful place to sit in the shade.
Tying in with our push to be more environmentally conscious, CCC installed a bat box in the park in summer 2018 to help encourage our tiny flying friends to keep the mosquito population down for us! It may take a little while for our friends to find our box, but we're on the lookout!
